Battery level
I've got a new cellphone for about a month. It's a Nokia 6030.
In case you are up to the trend, stop laughing at my pick yet. Yeah, I know it's an century-old model. It's nothing fancy or too exciting but a cellphone with the radio function. Yet it's the feature that my pocket pc phone lacks---the 7-level battery indicator shown whenever the phone is activated.
I was used to charging and synchronising my pocket pc phone every time I am home. The net result was that my ppc phone seldom, if never, ran out of battery within the day (well, I go home everyday).
Now here is the problem, as a guy of preparation, I just won't let my cellphone run out of battery. (Everything must be IN ORDER!) Nonetheless, I also want to test something. How long would each step of the battery indicator last? Can I stand the ultimate test---wait until the battery is totally dead?
Indeed it's a special case of a more general question---how much buffer do I need in order to feel comfortable? Can the "comfort zone" be stretched? Through extended training in staying at the lower buffer limit? Or even out of the comfort zone?
The result: as each level of battery was used up, the frequency for me to check out the battery level increased. When only one level of battery remained, I checked out the battery level couple times per hour.
Battery level exemplify my comfort zone indicator. Other examples include your savings account balance, the stock prices, time left for commuting to your destination (if you are usually punctual), the knowledge of a potential deal/religion.
It might have been an area of research already.
